Across the span of one month and two coasts, we hosted three incredible State Marches for Life in California, Virginia, and Pennsylvania—and our State March program is just getting started!
Working with local pro-life organizations, meeting hundreds of pro-life marchers from each community, and affecting pro-life policy at the state-level has been both an invigorating and humbling experience for our whole team. Here’s to many more State Marches in 2022!
In the meantime, I wanted to give you a brief snapshot of the California, Virginia, and Pennsylvania Marches for Life.
California March for Life
On August 25th, we gathered in Sacramento for the first-ever California March for Life. We encouraged hundreds of marchers to contact their local lawmakers about a radical, pro-abortion bill that would have forced health insurance providers to pay for abortions in their entirety, and the bill was halted THE VERY NEXT DAY!
Virginia March for Life
Pennsylvania March for Life
On September 27th, we saw our largest State March crowd this year at the first-ever Pennsylvania March for Life. PA State Representative Kathy Rapp, who has been in office for well over a decade, remarked on stage that it was “the largest rally [she] has ever seen in Harrisburg.” Even Pennsylvania’s pro-choice governor saw the crowd and responded against their pro-life witness!
Beautiful weather paired with the courageous presence of pro-life lawmakers on stage and powerful testimonies from abortion-healed speakers like Toni McFadden and Abby Johnson made the day as impactful as it was.
There is one reason why these State Marches are so beautiful and so fruitful: you. We are honored to march beside you and give joyful witness to the beauty of life. Thank you for marching with us. Each step brings us closer to each other and to the day when the heartbreak of abortion will be unthinkable.
We are just one day away from the third-annual Virginia March for Life in Richmond, Virginia!
Will we see you there?
Tomorrow, September 17th, we will gather to rally at the Virginia State Capitol Building at 12 pm ET, followed by a march at 1 pm ET to call for an end to pro-abortion extremism in the state.
Get ready to hear from several amazing pro-life speakers including state delegates, priests and pastors, and representatives from the March for Life, the Family Foundation of Virginia, Susan B. Anthony List, and more! You won’t want to miss these amazing testimonies.
Here are a few last-minute answers to frequently asked questions as you prepare for your trip to Richmond:
1. Where will the rally be held?
We will be gathering at 12 pm on the steps of Capitol Square in Richmond. The closest intersection is the corner of Bank Street and N 9th Street. The march will begin immediately following the rally.
2. Will there be parking available?
Yes, parking options for individuals can be viewed at this link. There will also be bus parking available on 14th street between Broad St. and Franklin St., as well as on Main street between 12th and 8th street. The police are closing the street down in those areas for bus parking.
3. Can I bring a sign?
Yes! We always encourage hand-made signs, however, they should not exceed 30″ x 30″ and the supporting handle must not be more than one-fourth inch (1/4”) in thickness by three-fourth inch (3/4”) in width and must be made of wood.

March for Life partnered with The Family Foundation will host the 2021 Virginia March for Life in September
Pro-life Virginians to gather and highlight the fundamental rights of the unborn
RICHMOND, VA – March for Life has partnered with the Family Foundation to organize the Virginia March for Life on Friday, September 17, 2021, happening in Richmond, VA. Ahead of the November statewide elections, marchers will make their voices heard at the steps of the state capitol on behalf of unborn children.
“We look forward to coming together to highlight the cause of life in Virginia where there are far too few protections for the unborn,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life Defense and Education Fund. Virginia state law currently allows abortion for virtually any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. “This march will give pro-life Virginians the opportunity to be heard and demand respect for the rights of these children,” Mancini continued. “Every human life should be valued and deserves legal protection.”
Victoria Cobb, President of the Family Foundation said, “We are thrilled to announce our 3rd annual March for Life. While our Commonwealth has been working through the difficulties of a pandemic, the abortion industry has been launching tele-services, increasing abortion volume later and later in pregnancy and receiving more money than ever before from our taxpayers. It’s time for Virginians to take a stand.”
The third annual Virginia March for Life will start with a rally at the State Capitol at 12:00 p.m. ET, followed by a march at 1:00 p.m. ET. More details, including a list of speakers, to be announced soon.
