I applaud Senators Sasse and Graham for sponsoring, respectively, two important pro-life bills, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. These bills provide basic, necessary protections under the law for the most vulnerable in society: survivors of failed abortions and the unborn. It is deeply disappointing that some elected officials in the Senate have promised to block even legislation that mandates medical care for children who survive an abortion – an extremist view shared by all Democratic presidential candidates. While any abortion is one too many, the reality is that overwhelmingly Americans want to see greater protections for the most vulnerable and these bills are a strong step in the right direction. Thanks to the leadership of Senator McConnell, senators will have an opportunity to stand with the majority of the American people who support these crucial measures.

Below is a statement from March for Life President, Jeanne Mancini, regarding today’s announcement that President Trump with address the 47^th annual March for Life in person:

We are deeply honored to welcome President Trump to the 47^th annual March for Life. He will be the first president in history to attend and we are so excited for him to experience in person how passionate our marchers are about life and protecting the unborn. From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and abroad, to calling for an end to late-term abortions, President Trump and his Administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering. We are grateful for all these pro-life accomplishments and look forward to gaining more victories for life in the future.

Washington, D. C. – The March for Life Education and Defense Fund is excited to announce two additional speakers at the 47^th annual March for Life on January 24^th, 2020. The First Lady of Louisiana Donna Hutto Edwards and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) will be speaking at the March for Life Rally. First Lady of Louisiana Donna Hutto Edwards has been a strong supporter of the pro-life movement and, despite being advised to abort, chose life for her daughter after she was diagnosed with spina bifida in the womb. Rep. Scalise has been a staunch advocate for the sanctity of life in Congress, especially through his work on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The theme for this year’s March for Life is Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman.

The Virginia March for Life, taking place on February 13, 2020, comes as a new majority files Equal Rights Amendment

RICHMOND, VA. – March for Life is excited to partner with The Family Foundation, the Virginia Catholic Conference, and the Virginia Society for Human Life for the second annual Virginia March for Life on February 13, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia. Marchers will rally at the state capitol to stop extreme abortion legislation. Bills have already been filed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, to remove necessary, life- saving parental consent and ultrasound informed-consent requirements before an abortion is performed, to eliminate health and safety standards for abortion facilities, and even to establish the “right to personal reproductive autonomy” in Virginia’s constitution.

After the recent Virginia election results, the majority made their priorities clear by filing the pro-abortion Equal Rights Amendment as their first bill. The ERA would endanger every rational pro-life law in Virginia and enshrine abortion in the U.S. Constitution. If Virginia attempts to ratify this moot amendment, the Commonwealth may enter into a season of expensive litigation and see many legal protections now enjoyed by women completely erased. March for Life, The Family Foundation, the Virginia Catholic Conference and the Virginia Society for Human Life are calling upon all pro-life Virginians to stand against all legislation that threatens the inherent God-given dignity of the human person, especially the most vulnerable among us, the unborn. The march will take place right after the legislature’s critical cross-over period between the House and Senate, thereby allowing participants to advocate in person with their elected representatives.
