The March for Life unequivocally opposes the abortion industry-backed constitutional amendment on the Senate floor today, which pro-abortion elected officials continually attempt to revive despite the fact that its deadline for ratification expired nearly 50 years ago. This deceptive amendment would be used as a tool by the abortion industry to expand abortion access at the expense of women’s health, vulnerable unborn children, and American taxpayers. It’s time for Congress to listen to the will of the people and prioritize life-affirming action that protects and honors all Americans, including those in the womb.
March for Life, Partnered with The California Family Council Announces 2023 California March for Life
Legislators and Pro-Life Activists to Address Marchers in Sacramento, CA on March 6, 2023
SACRAMENTO, CA– Today the March for Life, partnered with The California Family Council announced the third official California March for Life on Monday March 6. Marchers will gather at the Sacramento Capitol Building to peacefully advocate for pro-life protections in state laws.
“The March for Life is delighted to again partner with the California Family Council for the third annual California March for Life. Heartbreakingly, California has some of the most wide open abortion laws in the nation, and the recent passage of Proposition 1 has enshrined the right to unrestricted, late-term, taxpayer funded elective abortions into California’s constitution. Now more than ever, we need every person to witness and advocate for life affirming policies that support the inherent dignity of both mom and baby, born and unborn.” Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life Education and Defense Fund
“California Family Council is excited to partner with local, state, and national allies to bring the March for Life back to Sacramento for the third consecutive year. In light of the Dobbs Supreme Court Decision, it is more important than ever for peaceful pro-lifers to boldly advocate for the humanity of our preborn brothers and sisters. We urge every Californian to join us in person and in prayer on the steps of the Capitol Monday, March 6th, for the 2023 California March for Life!” Jonathan Keller, President, The California Family Council

2022: A Year of Pro-Life Victories and New Opportunities
At the end of each year, we reflect on the abundance of blessings we have received. I think we can all agree that 2022 has been a historic whirlwind of a year and we are looking forward to the possibilities that 2023 holds for the protection of the most vulnerable, the child in the womb.
Here is a brief recap:
As we kicked off 2022, we hoped against hope for a historic victory for the pro-life movement. The Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case was heard at the Supreme Court last December, with the justices considering the possible overturn of the wrongfully decided Roe v. Wade case.
We prayed and waited for the decision to be issued and on June 24 (the birthday of March for Life founder, Nellie Gray!), we joyously saw the Supreme Court return the power back to the American people to protect the unborn through their elected representatives. In the days that followed, we worked overtime to educate Americans on the truth about post-Roe America online and in media outlets such as NBC, FOX, CBS, CNN, EWTN, to name a few. Before and after the Dobbs decision, we also continued working with partners in the states as we grew our State March Program. 2022 included five State Marches—Virginia, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, and Connecticut.
In the first-ever State March for Life in a post-Roe America, nearly 6,000 Pennsylvanians Marched for Life in Harrisburg, PA on September 19. We also far outnumbered a counter rally held the next day, but even more importantly our Marchers outpaced the pro-abortion rally with love, joy and enthusiasm!
Check out the comparison photo below! As we look ahead to 2023, with the new freedom states have to enact good policies, we plan to redouble our efforts and quickly grow our state marches!
Another highlight was mobilizing our March for Life Action Advocacy Network throughout the year and across the country, to put pro-life citizens in direct communication with their legislators. Each email or tweet our advocates sent to their lawmakers made a difference in protecting the unborn—totaling nearly ONE MILLION messages sent over the last couple of years!
Through the Advocacy Network, pro-life citizens are able to “march” virtually all year-round by making their voice heard on protecting the inherent dignity of the unborn child and his/her mother.

In the past few months we have turned our focus to planning the National March on January 20, 2023, where we will be taking the “Next Steps” and “Marching into a Post-Roe America” (our theme for this year’s March for Life)! This will be the 50th annual March for Life, the first Post-RoeNational March. We plan to celebrate, give thanks and remember those who have gone before us who led the way to this historic moment in time, and to map out a path forward!
In large part because of your witness as Marchers, your prayers, and your financial support, we at the March for Life are able to give heartfelt thanks for a beautiful and fruitful year, and we look forward for things to come! With the 50th annual March for Life just a few weeks away, we are confident that this year will be the most historic yet. Stay tuned!
Happy New Year from all of us at the March for Life!Introducing the 2023 March for Life Speakers!
On January 20th, we will celebrate the 50th annual March for Life and the momentous overturn of Roe v. Wade! We will honor those who have gone before us making this historic victory possible, and we will present the strategic plan for building a culture of life in this moment in time.
Vital to our strategic “Next Steps” is continuing to boldly march each year in Washington, DC, now that the power to protect the unborn has returned to the American people through their elected representatives.
This year, rather than marching to the steps of the Supreme Court, where we have for decades asked our highest Court’s Justices to undo the destructive decision that was Roe v. Wade, we will now march to a new front in our battle for life, the steps of the United States Capitol.

Stay tuned for many more exciting updates to come in the weeks and months leading up to the 50th Annual March for Life.
Why we will continue to March for Life
With the wonderful blessing of Roe v. Wade being overturned, a goal we have marched for since 1974, some say there is no longer a need for the pro-life movement to gather for the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. The work to build a culture of life in the United States of America is far from finished, but they say we can now solely focus our work on advancing our cause in the states.
Such confusion could not be further from the truth! As we unveil our historic 2023 March for Life theme which will guide us towards our 50th anniversary and through our first post-Roe march, we seek to inspire clarity and enthusiasm among all pro-life people in this critical next phase of building a culture of life.
On January 20, we will celebrate the 50th annual March for Life and the momentous overturn of Roe v.
We must tirelessly build a culture of life on Capitol Hill, and advocate for the advancement of federal pro-life policies. But it doesn’t end there: we must also march in our state capitols, urging our state legislators to pass life-saving protections for the unborn. Last, we must continue to increase the safety net for moms and babies, especially by supporting pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes in our communities that provide love, compassion, and resources to women, children, and families.
Those who have been paying attention know that the battle at the federal level has only intensified since the historic Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision. Already, pro-abortion politicians in the U.S. House and Senate have voted in favor of the most radical expansion of abortion in American history, a bill deceptively named the Women’s Health Protection Act. If passed, this extreme bill would nullify existing pro-life state laws, prevent the passage of future state laws that protect the unborn, and force taxpayers to pay for abortions nationwide — up until birth. Going beyond Roe, it would eliminate parental-consent laws. We can’t afford to abandon the fight at the federal level now.
Neither can we leave hard-fought victories like the Hyde Amendment vulnerable to attack. Hyde is in the crosshairs of pro-abortion politicians and has been for a long time. This long-standing policy limits government funding for abortion on annual appropriation bills, protects taxpayers and saves lives. In fact, it has been estimated to have saved more than 2.4 million lives since its adoption in 1976 and is arguably the most impactful pro-life policy in our nation’s history. It should not be taken for granted.
This is by no means meant to distract us from our efforts in the states, but we must realize that the fall of Roe means the battle for life must be fought on two fronts now: state and federal.
We are rapidly expanding our state march program to meet this need. And the enthusiasm at the state level is high now that the people once again have a say in laws protecting the unborn. Last week we had more than 4000 gather in Columbus, Ohio for the first annual Ohio March for Life and last month we saw more than 5,500 pro-life Pennsylvanians gather in Harrisburg to attend the first state march since the Dobbs decision came down. We at the March for Life plan to be in all 50 states soon because we, more than anyone I dare say, understand the power of unified, joyful masses of pro-life marchers who, year in and year out, send a loud and clear message to legislators: Protect life!
Maternity Homes and Pregnancy Care Centers are also critical to this next phase in pro-life work. Pro-life pregnancy centers provide assistance such as education, support services and essential medical care to over 2 million people every year, offering millions of dollars-worth in medical, education and support resources. Maternity homes provide shelter and support for the first several years of the baby’s life.
Pregnancy resource centers have saved more than 800,000 lives since 2016 and are favored by the vast majority of Americans. Despite the many violent attacks leveled at these centers since the beginning of May when the Dobbs decision was leaked, everything they do is driven by love for the women who walk through their doors and a deep desire to see them realize their dreams without sacrificing their children.
As we lean into our ‘Next Steps,’ and continued marching both in DC and in the states, we will build up a culture of life and be a bright light to our world. Yes, there is still so much work to be done, but we are encouraged by the fruits of our labors so far. Thanks to the incredible dedication and passion that you, our marchers, have shown throughout the years, we are emboldened to take these next steps in carrying out our mission to promote the beauty and dignity of every human life by working for an end to abortion.
