What If I Weren’t Here?

December 28, 2017 By Scott Zipperle

What If I Weren’t Here?

Guest story by Faith

Shared with permission by the March for Life.

When my mother was pregnant with me, she thought she had miscarried several times. Upon running some prenatal diagnostic tests, her doctor revealed that I had a high likelihood of being born with a chromosomal disorder, such as Down Syndrome.

Delivery itself, the doctor cautioned my mom, could kill her. Why risk leaving 2 healthy kids motherless? Why cause her husband this pain…for a defect like me? Abortion was clearly the only “smart choice.”

My mom named me Faith because she chose life. She recognized my inherent dignity. She trusted God had a plan for me, regardless of my abilities or disabilities. And thank God she did.

Twenty years later, I can’t help but wonder if anyone would have noticed if I weren’t here. Twenty years later, I’m able to speak for the silent who never got their chance.

The pro-life movement is a chance to reflect on that “what if.” What if I weren’t here? What if YOU weren’t here? I can’t help but think about the countless people I could’ve known, but don’t–and how close I was to joining their ranks. I’m glad to be here. I’m glad to have been the exception.

I mourn for those like me who never had the chance to share a story with a happy ending. I march for them. I march because I could have been them. I march because I’m here…and they’re not.

Life-Saving Love at Christmas

As we prepare to receive Christ anew this Christmas I want to wish you and your families a beautiful, grace filled holy season!

This is the time of year that we particularly treasure our family, friends, and loved ones. It’s the time of year that we celebrate the ultimate gift of love that came to us in the form of a tiny baby in a manger.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

Love truly does save lives.

We are excited to reflect more upon this truth, our 2018 theme, in the coming weeks and months.

Do you have a personal pro-life story that reflects “Love Saves Lives”?

If you’d like to share your story so that it might encourage and inspire others, you can submit it on the March for Life website HERE.

>>>> Read Shelley’s story, “I Was An Unplanned Pregnancy.”

To continue to change our culture for life, we must communicate and live out this truth of life-saving love, and the spirit of the Christmas season, each and every day.

Thank you for all of your sacrifices for life. Have a blessed Christmas!

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March for Life, the world’s largest annual pro-life demonstration, is proud to announce their initial list of speakers for the 45th annual March for Life held in Washington, D.C. on January 19th, 2018. This year’s impressive lineup will include NFL/MLB star Tim Tebow’s mother Pam Tebow, former NFL player Matt Birk and his wife Adrianna, U.S. Representatives Dan Lipinski (D-IL) and Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Sisters of Life’s Sr. Bethany Madonna. “We are thrilled to have such an outstanding group of speakers with such inspirational stories join us this year at the 45th annual March for Life,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life. “Each of these speakers bear witness to this year’s theme ‘Love Saves Lives’ in a unique and powerful way that is sure to resonate with the hundreds of thousands of pro-life Americans from across the country who will be coming to march in defense of life this year. We look forward to hearing how love has empowered each speaker to create a culture of life within their individual communities and platforms.”

In less than a month, hundreds of thousands of Americans are set to travel from across the nation to D.C. for this year’s March for Life, which seeks to promote the dignity of every human life and to stand against the greatest human rights violation of our time – abortion-on-demand.

Invite Your Lawmakers to the March for Life

A few years ago, the president of NARAL Pro-Choice America — a group that is credited with being the architect of legal abortion — happened to see the crowds at the March for Life. Her reaction was: “There are so many of them, and they are so young,” and she subsequently resigned, realizing that NARAL was failing.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful for every American to see the incredible representation of our country’s pro-life consensus at the March for Life?

Get started by inviting your lawmakers to the March for Life on Friday, January 19, 2018!

Whether your Congressman and Senators are pro-life or not, it’s important for them to witness the March for Life, and to see the strength and beauty of our cause.

We gather in the public square to call for a culture of life and work towards and end to abortion.

This is #whywemarch and we want Congress to know it!

We hope you’ll join us at the 45th Annual March for Life on Friday, January 19th, 2018 to make a stand for what’s most important.

>>>> Please take a moment to invite your legislators to witness the March for Life and share with your friends on social media.
