Decision to Fund Planned Parenthood Shows Where President’s Priorities Lie

Washington, D.C. — President Obama has vetoed a bill to reduce taxpayer support of the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

“President Barack Obama’s decision to continue using taxpayer money to fund the abortion industry through a stroke of his pen speaks directly to his administration’s priorities on life and the unborn. Language in the bill would have allowed for continued funding for Planned Parenthood if the organization stopped providing abortion. By vetoing this bill, the President’s choice for abortion is loud and clear, perhaps more than ever before.” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund. “We applauded the United States Congress for passing this bill to defund Planned Parenthood, thereby placing it on the President’s desk. We now ardently encourage Congress to vote on an override to the President’s veto.”

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world.  The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion.

Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund, is available for commentary. For more information, please contact Ryan Hughes at RHughes@SBPublicAffairs.com or (703) 739-5920.

Decision to Fund Abortion Giant Now In President’s Hands

Washington, D.C. — The March for Life Education and Defense Fund today applauded the United States Congress for voting to defund Planned Parenthood, placing the bill on the President’s desk. With the decision to pass or veto the bill in the President’s hands, Planned Parenthood Federation of America faces an important decision: if the organization agrees to stop practicing abortion, which it claims is not its primary focus, the group can still receive federal tax dollars.

“We applaud the United States Congress for putting the bill to defund Planned Parenthood on the President’s desk,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund. “The decision to continue using taxpayer money to fund the abortion industry now rests with President Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood. Additionally, this bill would allow for the continued funding of the organization if they agree stop the practice of aborting unborn babies. Planned Parenthood claims that abortion is a secondary focus of the group. Americans will now see where their priorities lie.”

Senator Joni Ernst to Speak at March for Life

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 4, 2015

Ernst has a Proven Record of Pro-Life Leadership in the Senate

Washington, D.C. — The March for Life 2016 is fast approaching, and the March For Life Education & Defense Fund is pleased to announce that Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) will speak at this year’s March for Life Rally on Capitol Hill, which will be held on January 22, 2016 at 12:00 PM ET

Sen. Ernst is the junior United States Senator from Iowa. She previously served as a Republican member of the Iowa Senate from 2011 to 2014 and was also a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard prior to retiring from the military in 2015. Ernst is the first woman to represent Iowa in the United States Congress and the first female veteran to serve—from any state—in the U.S. Senate. She has been a tireless champion of Pro-Life causes in the United States Senate since day one.

In 2014, Sen. Ernst ran as a strong pro-life woman in a purple state and won. Her bold defense of the unborn is a reflection of the importance of the theme of this year’s March for Life – “Pro-Life and Pro-Woman Go Hand-in-Hand.”

“We are very excited to announce Senator Joni Ernst’s participation in this year’s March for Life Rally on Capitol Hill,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education & Defense Fund. “Senator Ernst has shown outstanding leadership in the United States Senate for Pro-Life issues since day one and continues to do so to this day. As a female advocate for the pro-life movement, she will contribute to the theme of this year’s March for Life, ‘Pro-Life and Pro-Women go Hand-in-Hand.’”

This year’s march will be open to the press and radio shows hoping to participate should RSVP by contacting Ryan Hughes at RHughes@SBPublicAffairs.com or (703) 739-5920.
