2017 March for Life Media Coverage

Did you know that the March for Life was on the front page of the Washington Post and the New York Times the day after the March for Life this year?

I love how both pictures show the magnitude of the crowd and the joyful youth of the March for Life!

We still have a long way to go for the pro-life cause to be covered fairly, especially the March for Life. But this year, because of our outreach efforts and the visit by the Vice President, we saw some fair and even positive coverage of the March for Life.

>>>> You can check out the full coverage HERE.

The media outreach is no easy task. I can tell you that during the week and month of the March for Life, our leader Jeanne Mancini, is constantly in interviews, sometimes facing hostile reporters.

I’m sure you can agree with me that Jeanne does an amazing and graceful job in communicating the truth about the March for Life and the pro-life cause!

Some might even ask, why do this?

We believe, that no matter the opposition, we must speak with truth and love when sharing the pro-life message. Changing our culture to embrace life, takes time and effort, and we’ve engaged the challenge.

We hope you find the 2017 March for Life media update helpful. We are committed to creating a culture where abortion is unthinkable.

Jeanne Mancini IJR Op-Ed on the Life of Norma McCorvey

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini was recently published in the Independent Journal Review with an op-ed on the life of Norma McCorvey.

I am incredibly grateful for Norma’s witness. Her story teaches us all that to be pro-life includes treating everyone with love and compassion, even and especially people who disagree with us.

Last week the world lost an incredible woman, but her true legacy – one that beautifully encapsulates the power of the pro-life movement – will live on.

Tom Price Confirmed as HHS Secretary

“The March For Life congratulates Rep. Tom Price on his confirmation as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. During the Obama Administration, this cabinet position was used to widely expand abortion access, fund abortion providers and limit conscience protections. Secretary Price has the medical and policy knowledge and experience to bring authentically good programs, those that respect the inherent dignity of every human being, and respect conscience protections, to HHS. We look forward to working with Secretary Price in advancing conscience protections and life-affirming health care solutions.”

Jeff Sessions Confirmed as Attorney General

“We’re thrilled that Senator Jeff Sessions was confirmed as the next U.S. Attorney General. The role of Attorney General is a critical one, and Senator Jeff Sessions has an extensive track record of upholding the law and promoting human dignity in the public square. Senator Sessions will serve as both the Chief Law Enforcement officer and Chief Attorney for the United States, which includes promoting the protection and justice for all human life, even in its earliest stages.  We look forward to a Justice Department that seeks to protect and defend the inherent dignity of the human person.”

Pence to make historic appearance as the first Vice President to address the March for Life

Washington, D.C. – The March for Life announced today that Vice President Mike Pence will be the first Vice President or President in history to speak at the March for Life, the world’s largest annual pro-life demonstration, in Washington, D.C. on January 27th, 2017.

Pence will join other prominent pro-life figures, including top-ranking White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, Archbishop of New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Baltimore Ravens tight end Benjamin Watson, former Planned Parenthood Director and founder of ‘And Then There Were None’ Abby Johnson, Mexican Telenovela star Karyme Lozano, author and radio host Eric Metaxas, and Bishop Vincent Matthews of the Church of God in Christ, who advocates for adoption in the African-American community, at the March for Life rally on the National Mall on January 27th, 2017.

“We are very pleased to welcome Vice President Mike Pence to speak at this year’s March for Life. His appearance marks a historic moment for the pro-life movement as Vice President Pence will be the first Vice President or President to speak at the March for Life,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life.

“Vice President Pence has been a friend and champion of the pro-life cause his entire career. Pro-life leaders, activists, volunteers and marchers will be thrilled to hear from Vice President Pence and are bound to leave the March for Life even more energized than when they came,” Mancini noted. “Our theme this year is the “Power of One,” highlighting how every individual has the ability to make a difference in the cause of life.  As a former Member of Congress, Governor and now Vice President, Mr. Pence has demonstrated throughout his entire career how one person can, indeed, make a difference in the ultimate human right — the right to life.”

Tens of thousands of Americans are set to travel from across the nation to D.C. for this year’s March for Life, which seeks to promote the dignity of every human life and to stand against the greatest human rights violation of our time – abortion-on-demand.
