March for Life Leads Letter to Department of Justice

Along with pro-life allies, the March for Life sent a coalition letter to the Department of Justice and FBI regarding an investigation into Planned Parenthood. The letter addresses Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe and it writes: “The previous administration decided to turn a blind eye to the wrongdoing, which led to the creation of the select panel. We request that the Justice Department continue the investigation into the practices surrounding this scandal.”

6 Things to Know from Planned Parenthood’s Annual Report

Planned Parenthood typically releases its annual report in December or January each year, but only made their latest report, for 2015-2016, available earlier this week, six months late. Could it be that they sought to delay or hide the truth about the “services” they provide?

As Congress considers healthcare reform legislation that would redirect the federal funding Planned Parenthood currently receives to Federally Qualified Health Centers, this latest report from the nation’s largest abortion provider gives information that pro-life Americans need to know.

Here are six points from Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report:

  1. In the last year,* Planned Parenthood performed 328,348 abortions. This is an increase of over 4,300 more abortions from the prior year. Note that the national number of abortions decreased during this time. Planned Parenthood is increasing its market value for abortions.
  2. Total revenue ($1.354 billion) and government funding ($554.6 million) in 2016 are the highest they have been for Planned Parenthood.
  3. Planned Parenthood made more than $77 million in profit. This is an increase of $19 million more than the year prior. Keep in mind that Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization. Additionally, Planned Parenthood invests heavily in electing abortion advocates. A recent article revealed that Planned Parenthood’s political arms spent over $38 million in election funding between 2012-2016.
  4. Non-reproductive health care services have greatly decreased. Cancer screenings have dropped by half since 2011, abortions now outnumber basic breast exams for the first time in its history.
  5. The number of patients and prenatal services continue to decrease. Prenatal services have dropped by almost a half since last year alone, and the number of patients is down by four percent.
  6. They falsely claim that the Center for Medical Progress Video footage containing damning evidence of Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the trafficking of baby parts was “heavily edited” and “widely discredited”. However, a forensic analysis and congressional investigation have disproven these erroneous talking points. Read more HERE.

As you can see abortion and revenue numbers continue to go up, and women’s health services continue to decrease, and yet government funding has increased over the past year.

What can you do?

  1. Please share this information and the graphic below to show the truth about Planned Parenthood, our nation’s largest abortion provider.

  2. Contact your lawmakers to demand an end to federal funding of abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. It is the right thing to do, and over 60% of Americans oppose their taxpayer dollars paying for abortions.

Pro-Life Leaders Urge House to Move Forward in Defunding Abortion Giant

Washington, D.C – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Monday national security has become the top issue Republicans are looking promote as a possible “add on” in the upcoming government spending bill, and said this issue may end up replacing efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.

Pro-Life leaders across the board are urging House Leadership not to delay the fight to defund Planned Parenthood.

“Planned Parenthood is the largest abortionist in the United States and it is abhorrent that taxpayers are being forced to subsidize them,” said Tom McClusky, President of March for Life Action. “The abortion giant is not the only pro-life concern that is in front of Congress. To name just a few, there are currently pro-life Christian hospitals being forced to pay for abortions, taxpayers being forced to pay for abortions for detained immigrants and Congressional staff on Obamacare exchanges that offer abortions despite that being against Federal law. If Congress wants to protect taxpayers from being complicit in the deaths of innocents, those are all good places to start.”

Planned Parenthood commits close to 330,000 abortions every year. In their 2013-2014 report Planned Parenthood stated their total revenue was over $1.3 billion. 46 percent of that revenue came from federal, state and city governments. In that same year, the non-profit had a budget surplus of $127.1 million, some of which was likely profit from trafficking of little hearts, lungs and livers of little babies.

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion.

Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life Education and Defense Fund, is available for interviews. For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact Ryan Hughes at RHughes@SBPublicAffairs.com or (703) 739-5920.

Every Life is a Gift: Shockwaves Initiative

Guest blog post by Georgette Forney & Janet Morana

When Robin Williams committed suicide last fall, the United States experienced a collective sense of grief that generated thousands of comments on social media outlets for an extensive period of time.

Why were people so strongly impacted by William’s death?

When death touches us personally, its impact is felt much deeper and it leaves a permanent hole where our love for that person resided. Even though the vast majority of people grieving for Robin Williams did not personally know him, we connected with his characters like Mrs. Doubtfire or Mork from Ork!  He was like family, and he brought us joy.

Over the last six years, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign has seen a similar phenomenon happening with families who have been impact by the death of an unborn child.

March For Life 2014This year the Silent No More Awareness Campaign is launching the Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion to help those who are grieving this type of loss.  This year long initiative has a special focus each month on a target population impacted by abortion such as grandparents, siblings, and immediate and extended  family members, abortion providers and a special emphasis in February and October on minority communities who are especially devastated by abortion loss.  We hope to raise awareness, heal and restore the connection they are missing for their family member lost to abortion.  Though our zip code based healing website abortionhealing.org  all touched by abortion can find healing resources and the forgiveness and peace that grieving and memorializing the aborted child can bring to a family.

The typical pattern after the procedure is that abortions are kept a secret. Whether it was the mother’s, father’s or the couples decision, the experience is kept hidden with hopes that the pain and grief will go away by denying it light. But secrets tend to gnaw at the heart and lead to painful ways to express the hurt, such as anger, depression, eating disorders, and addictions to numb the hurt. This secret pain of the abortion Shockwaves sometimes even destroys marriage and family relationships.

Testimonies of those who have had abortions describe how abortion creates a sense of isolation, feeling like they are the only one hurting, while healing can restore connection and a sense of unity amongst family members.  As people in a family heal from an abortion loss, relationships and love can once again flourish.

M4L_Generic_Meme10Every life is a gift but when a life is denied…everyone is denied the joy of knowing and interacting with that person. Look around your family. What would life be like without one of your grandchildren or siblings or nieces or nephews? Or is someone already missing in your family and painful secrets are keeping walls erected between you?

This year as the March ends at the Supreme Court we will have an historic launching of our Shockwaves Initiative with a special gathering reflecting the various target groups for our year long project.  For the first time, joining the mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents and friends holding signs and sharing testimonies of their abortion loss at the steps of the Supreme Court, we will have a former abortionist, Anthony Levatino sharing his testimony and standing with all those impacted by the Shockwaves of abortion.  Join us for this historic gathering after the March for Life.

This is why we march – we want people to realize abortion scatters hearts but healing gathers them back together.

Doctors Recommended I Be Aborted: Look At Me Now!

Guest blog post by Brittany Hebert.

My name is Brittany Hebert. I attended the March for Life in 2010 with my graduating class from St. Edmund High School in Eunice, Louisiana. It was an amazing, eye-opening experience for everyone. Because I attended a Catholic School, and I am Catholic, I have always been taught that life begins at conception; to end that life is murder. I strongly believe this with every fiber of my being.

Brittany HebertThe March for Life holds a very dear spot in my heart because of my abortion story. When my mom was pregnant for me, she went in for her normal checkup. Everything was fine until they did her ultrasound. She was 26 weeks pregnant. The doctor spotted a mass on my brain. The doctor immediately told my parents that they should have an abortion because there was no way I would ever live a normal life. My parents objected instantly, but because they were concerned, they decided to travel to Tulane Hospital in New Orleans to do an amniocentesis to know what to expect when I was born. A few weeks later my mom received a call from Tulane. The doctor explained that I was going to be Down Syndrome, if I survived long enough to be born. The mass on my brain had also grown, and was traveling down my spine. The doctor recommended an abortion again. My parents didn’t want to hear it. I was born October 24, 1991, 1 1/2 months premature. I stayed in the NICU for 2 months. There was no mass on my brain, and no abnormalities at all.

I am a healthy, happy, 23 year old. I am engaged to the most wonderful man I have ever known. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, and I am about to graduate in Elementary Education. I am blessed beyond measure.
