Campaign to kick-off with a press conference, petition, and social media push

Washington, D.C. – March for Life announced that they will join forces with other pro-life groups to show their support for Charlie Gard, a terminally ill baby in the U.K. whose parents have been denied all option of further alternative care. In an effort to rally support and to urge the Great Ormand Street Hospital to release Charlie to his parents, the pro-life groups will host a press conference and prayer this afternoon, as well as launch a petition drive and social media campaign to urge the hospital to #LetCharlieLive and allow his parents to seek alternative medical options.

“Every life is a gift and worth fighting for, and we plan to do everything in our power to be a voice and to protect the inherent dignity of little Charlie Gard.  Our hearts go out to the Gard family and we hope that their wishes for Charlie to be released and to seek alternative medical treatment will soon be respected,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life.

The press conference and prayer will be held today Thursday July 6th, 2017 in the Murrow Room of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. at 12PM ET, and will feature speakers from pro-life groups including March for Life, Susan B. Anthony List, Concerned Women for America, Americans United for Life, and Students for Life. More details below.

March for Life also launched a petition today urging the Great Ormand Street Hospital to allow the parents of Charlie Gard to seek alternative treatment for him elsewhere and to rally the pro-life community to stand with Charlie via social media, using the hashtags #LetCharlieLive and #CharlieGard. MfL Statement on Senate Health Care Bill

“While we appreciate the inclusion of language to redirect federal funds away from abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, the reality is that necessary pro-life protections in this bill will be stripped by the Senate Parliamentarian, as we have now publicly heard from two Senators. If this happens, one of the most egregious aspects of Obamacare — tax credits for plans covering abortion — will continue under this Administration and Congress. Abortion is not healthcare.” –

Pro-Life Concerns in Senate Health Care Bill

In May, the House of Representatives passed a health care reconciliation bill that contained pro-life protections, such as a prohibition on any federal tax subsidies paying for abortion and a redirection of Planned Parenthood’s funding towards Federally Qualified Health Centers.

But with so many issues on the table, I’m concerned about our pro-life priorities remaining in the legislation as it works its way through the Senate.

This is the opportunity to defund Planned Parenthood, so pro-life America must speak out!

>>>> Your voice is needed to urge the Senate to keep these critical pro-life policies in the bill. Contact your Senators today!

WATCH March for Life President Jeanne Mancini and March for Life Action President Tom McClusky discuss the pro-life concerns with the legislation.

Thank you for making your voice heard on this important issue!

A Father’s Love

Guest Blog Post by Corinne Zay, March for Life Intern

Many people make abortion an issue regarding only the mother and child. There is a tendency in the arguments surrounding abortion to neglect the father’s role and responsibility in pregnancy or in parenting. Having just celebrated Father’s Day, I’d like to share about the importance of fatherhood and how my own father has blessed my life.

The love and gratitude I have for my father is unconditional. He has helped me to become who I am in countless ways. My earliest memories involve my dad, whether it was riding on the big lawn mower on his lap, playing tennis ball in the backyard, or my very first 5k race in 4th grade. He taught me the value of hard work, how to serve others, and he taught me how to love and forgive others.

One of the most significant things my father has helped me with is my relationship with God. My parents not only introduced me to my faith by raising me in the Church and providing for me a Catholic education, but they showed me how to live my faith daily. It was by their example and support that I was able to grow into the faith-filled ambitious woman I am today. The root of my relationship with God stems from my parents’ love. In their decision to give me life and nurture my soul with Christ’s love I am blessed to be who I am today.

A father is crucial to understanding God, but also to the function of family. It is a father that teaches us how to love as God loves. Thank you to my father, to all fathers, and to the fathers-to-be. Men, be life affirming by representing real love in this culture. Your love can save lives. Support your wife, your sister, your mother, your girlfriend. Be a real man and lead them to God and love them on their journey because your love can impact countless lives and generations.
