March for Life Statement on Charlie Gard

“Charlie Gard’s medical condition is heart-breaking but the situation has been significantly worsened because his parents have not been able to, in the words of Pope Francis, “treat and accompany” their little baby as they wish. As the court reconsiders this case, we hope and pray that the Judge will make the right decision and allow Charlie’s parents, Connie Yates and Chris Gard, to seek alternative medical treatment on behalf of their child. Every life is a gift, including Charlie’s, and we continue to hope and pray for a miracle of healing as well as freedom for his loving parents care for their son in the way they deem best.”

Profile of Jeanne Mancini in the Washington Post

Over the weekend, the Washington Post Magazine published a piece entitled, “I Could Use My Voice,” featuring ten activists from a wide spectrum of issues.

They even included a pro-life advocate, our very own Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life!

In the piece, Jeanne is able to share some of the truths that drive her and our work at the March for Life:

“I believe that everybody has inherent human dignity, from conception to natural death. And each person has the right to live out their unique mission. I can’t think of a more important social justice cause.”

The full piece also includes a video montage of the activists, with a clip of Jeanne at the March for Life, proclaiming, “pro-life is pro-woman!

Reflecting on the contentiousness of the issue of abortion, Jeanne goes on to say, “But you can’t back down because of fear, or what people think, or your reputation. You have to do what you know in your heart is right. How can you not?”

What an inspiring reminder for each of us!

In this time of cultural division, we each must stand strong in the truth of our beliefs and in our work to build a culture of life.

Maddi Runkles: Choosing Life

UPDATE (September 25, 2017): Congratulations Maddi on the birth of your precious son, Greyson!

Today we had the honor of hosting Maddi Runkles at our office for a Facebook Live conversation. During Maddi’s senior year of high school, this past year, she found herself facing an unexpected pregnancy, and in the midst of very challenging circumstances, she chose life.

We’re so grateful that she did, and she is expecting a baby boy in early September! We want to celebrate and honor her decision.

Watch the full conversation here:

As a concluding question, I asked Maddi, what advice she might have for someone watching who is also facing an unexpected pregnancy. Here is her inspiring response:

“It’s super cliche, but you can do it; it is worth it. Making the right choice is not always the easiest thing to do, but in the long run, it’s the best thing you can do.”

This is a very intimate and vulnerable topic, and we’re grateful for Maddi’s willingness to share. We want to reiterate her message of hope. Also, if anyone reading or watching this is facing an unexpected pregnancy, we would like to encourage you. There are many resources available and you can begin with checking out OptionLine.org.

Choosing life is empowering, and we hope you have seen how Maddi so beautifully embodies this.

We Stand With Charlie Gard

Earlier today, the March for Life joined forces with other pro-life groups to show their support for Charlie Gard, a terminally ill baby in the U.K. whose parents have been denied all option of further alternative care. In an effort to rally support and to urge the Great Ormand Street Hospital to release Charlie to his parents, the pro-life groups hosted a press conference and prayer session this afternoon.

Additionally, the March for Life launched a petition drive and social media campaign to urge the hospital to #LetCharlieLive and allow his parents to seek alternative medical options.
