Pro-life leaders gathered for Capitol Hill briefing to discuss how the theme embodies the pro-life movement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The March for Life Education and Defense Fund is thrilled to announce their 2018 theme – “Love Saves Lives”. Today, Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life, was joined by Alison Centofante, Director of Alliance Relations for Alliance Defending Freedom, Chuck Donovan, President of Charlotte Lozier Institute, and Susan Gallucci, Executive Director of Northwest Center, at a Capitol Hill briefing to discuss how the 45th annual March for Life’s theme, “Love Saves Lives”, embodies the mission of the pro-life movement.

“Choosing life is not always easy, but it is the loving, empowering, and self-sacrificial option. Love is universally attractive because it is directed towards others. Love is what we all strive for because deep-down we are all drawn to give of ourselves in this way. Love saves lives in countless ways,” said Jeanne Mancini.

The March for Life, the world’s largest annual human rights demonstration, will be held on January 19th, 2018. Pam Tebow, mother of NFL and MLB player Tim Tebow, has already been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s Rose Dinner, held the evening of the March for Life. Stephanie Gray, co-founder of the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, will be keynoting the March for Life Conference held January 18th, 2018.

I Was An Unplanned Pregnancy

Love Saves Lives Series

Story submitted by Shelley Sprouffske

Catherine was a 35 year old bartender. She was already a single mom. Upon realizing she was pregnant, she chose to work full time through the pregnancy and at 36 weeks, walked into the doctor’s office for the first time. “I’m going to have a baby that you’re going to deliver, and the baby needs a home.”

Upon the birth of that baby, an angel on earth named Linda was there to care for her until the newborn found her forever home.

Linda met Tom and Karol during the transfer of custody. With one day’s notice, they adopted this little girl. They picked up diapers and formula at 7-11 and headed to Bill and Betty’s for a 101 on feeding and changing a baby.

That baby was me.

Karol was pro-choice at the time. Over the years, and after adopting a second child, she realized that women in crisis pregnancies needed more support than was available. She went back to school for her masters in counseling, became a crisis pregnancy counselor and also specialized in post-abortive counseling. My mom helped start and grow The Gabriel Project in Western Washington (through the Archdiocese of Seattle) which gives one-on-one support to women in crisis pregnancies through spiritual, emotional, and material support. If you know of someone who is facing a pregnancy and needs support, their number is 888-926-2643.

I am so grateful for the gift of life from Catherine. For the gift of love from Linda. And for the gift of an amazing mom in Karol, who chose to walk the walk even before she talked the talk.

March for Life Statement on Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

“March for Life welcomes the announcement of a vote next week from House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy today on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. If enacted, this common sense policy would limit abortion to 20 weeks and finally join the consensus shared by eight out of ten Americans – abortion should have real legal limits. This bill would not only save 20,000 lives every year, but would educate the public on the humanity of the unborn person and affirm the science of fetal pain early in development.”

– March for Life President Jeanne Mancini
