March for Life Statement on Planned Parenthood Withdrawing from Title X

August 19, 2019 By Ann Clare Levy

March for Life Statement on Planned Parenthood Withdrawing from Title X

“Planned Parenthood, our nation’s largest abortion provider, today made a choice not to separate its abortion operation from Title X services, and in doing declined Title X funding, which makes up approximately four percent of their annual budget. Abortion is neither healthcare nor family planning and taxpayer dollars should not support abortion. Leana Wen’s recent firing and Planned Parenthood’s decision today doubles down on their ultimate goal, which is political abortion advocacy, not healthcare.”

Get the Congressional Recess Action Guide!

For the past 6 months, pro-life Representatives have called for a vote on the Born-Alive Act eighty times. Eighty times, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has blocked this vote.

To draw attention to this unprecedented rejection of what should be a bi-partisan issue, the March for Life joined forces with other pro-life organizations and Representatives on social media. You can read about the campaign and see the social media highlights HERE.

YOU can be part of the effort to support the Born Alive Act by downloading the March for Life Action Congressional Summer Recess Guide.

Every child deserves care and protection

Yesterday marked the six-month anniversary of the introduction of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962) in the House by Rep. Ann Wagner. The bill aims to ensure that children born alive after an attempted abortion receive “the same degree of professional skill, care and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.”

Over these six months, 80 pro-life Representatives have come to the House floor to call for a vote on the Born-Alive Act, and 80 times these Representatives have been blocked by Speaker Pelosi.

The care and protection of innocent new-born children should not be a controversial issue. According to polling by the Heritage Foundation, 76% of Americans support requiring doctors to provide medical care to infants that survive failed abortions.

To call attention to this disregard of human life and the importance of the Born Alive Act, the March for Life and others took to social media.

Thanks to all who joined us, and check out some of the highlights below!

Six months ago today, the #BornAliveAct was introduced. For six months, Speaker Pelosi and Democratic leadership has blocked a vote on this critical issue. That is unacceptable. No matter the obstacles, I will work tirelessly to #EndInfanticide. pic.twitter.com/fFv31iUA1t

Today marks 6 months since the #BornAliveAct that I cosponsored, which would require that a child born alive after an attempted abortion receive appropriate treatment & be transferred to a hospital, was introduced. It is time to pass this common-sense bill.

The #BornAliveAct ensures doctors “must exercise the same degree of professional skill, care and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a… physician would render to any other child born alive as the same gestational age.” This is NOT a partisan issue. pic.twitter.com/FShmAzXAh1

Guaranteeing medical care for babies who survive abortions is neither controversial or partisan, but @HouseDemocrats have blocked the #BornAliveAct more than 80 times this year. @SpeakerPelosi, will you please help us #EndInfanticide? pic.twitter.com/rjxb8227zb

— Rep. Mike Kelly (@MikeKellyPA) August 5, 2019

The #BornAliveAct is needed because the law on the books now is not adequate. Babies are still being born alive after #abortion and allowed to die. #EndInfanticide

The #BornAliveAct has bipartisan support and deserves a vote in the House – the smallest and most vulnerable among us deserve nothing less.

Six Months Until the 2020 March for Life!

Today marks six months until the 2020 March for Life!

On January 24, 2020 we will march for life in Washington, D.C.

This is what first-time marcher Bridgette had to say this past January:

“I went to the March for Life the first time this year and it was so EMPOWERING! For the first time in my life, I was completely surrounded by passionate people of all ages and from all backgrounds who truly believe in the innate dignity of human life in all stages and forms! It was a relief to know that I am not alone in my beliefs and helped give me the courage to stand up for them!”

If you have never been to the March for Life, will you join us in 2020?

Take it from Bridgette that the experience will impact you in many ways, inspiring you to be a stronger, more educated, and more courageous advocate for the unborn.

Whether the 2020 March for Life is your first time, or your 20th, we need every pro-life American to join us on January 24, 2020!

We must be a voice for the over 60 million unborn lives who have been lost to abortion. We must be a voice for women and families scarred by abortion. We must be a voice to call for an end to abortion extremism in our country.

We hope you will join us and invite others –  you can share the graphic below on social media!

The Pro-Life Movement is on the March

Do you ever feel like you are alone in your pro-life beliefs?

Or that the pro-life movement can’t compete with the powerful and well-funded abortion lobby?

The truth is – you are not alone in standing for life.

And the cause of life – despite Hollywood, the media, the abortion lobby, and extreme pro-abortion politicians – is gaining ground.

In a powerful op-ed for the Washington Examiner, March for Life President Jeanne Mancini writes about the pro-life awakening in our country, as more and more Americans are identifying as pro-life.

Check out the full op-ed, “Despite the celebs and the big money, Americans are trending pro-life,” to read what she attributes this shift to.

Jeanne concludes with “Americans love and respect life, which was freely given to all of us, and which we must safeguard for those who cannot protect themselves.”

That is what we seek to do at the March for Life each and every day – to be a voice for those who cannot protect themselves.
