Time to Investigate Planned Parenthood

An activist federal judge is censoring the latest undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress exposing the abortion industry. Before the video was pulled from YouTube, we were horrified listening to the content of Planned Parenthood representatives discussing the sale of baby body parts.

“As hard as it is to watch, the American people need to see these videos,” shared March for Life President Jeanne Mancini on EWTN News Nightly last week. You can watch the full clip of her appearance below:

It has been nearly 2 years since the release of the first disturbing video from the Center for Medical Progress in July 2015. The previous Administration turned a blind eye to the wrongdoing revealed in the hours of footage of these videos.

The Congressional Select Investigative Panel made 15 criminal and regulatory referrals of tissue procurement, and the Senate Judiciary Committee made 7 criminal referrals to the Department of Justice.

But the Justice Department hasn’t yet indicated that they will take up this critical investigation.

Today we are asking for your help in contacting the Department of Justice to ask that they would open an investigation into paid fetal tissue transfers involving Planned Parenthood.

You can read the full letter the March for Life, along with pro-life allies, sent to the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation last week HERE.

Your voice is needed! We need every March for Life supporter and pro-life American to send a message to Attorney General Jeff Sessions encouraging him to continue his pro-life support by investigating Planned Parenthood.

It’s time for the Department of Justice to continue the investigation begun by Congress.

Support Pro-Life HHS Appointees Yoest and Manning

Your voice is urgently needed to support pro-life appointments in the Trump Administration!

Last week, President Trump appointed two pro-life advocates to key positions in the Department of Health and Human Services – Dr. Charmaine Yoest as Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services, and Teresa Manning as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Population Affairs. Both Charmaine and Teresa have worked tirelessly for pro-life and pro-woman policies their entire careers, and now pro-abortion activists are protesting their appointments and pressuring the White House to rescind them.

It’s critical that pro-life Americans raise their voices in support of the appointments of Yoest and Manning.

Send a message to President Trump and Secretary Price thanking them for the appointments of Yoest and Manning to HHS.

In the first 100 days of the Trump Administration, many pro-life policy successes have been achieved. Check out March for Life President Jeanne Mancini’s op-ed in Townhall, “Pro-Life Progress During Trump’s First 100 Days.”  However, there’s still much work to be done – and your voice is needed!

Urgent support for Yoest and Manning are needed as pro-abortion activists seek to derail these appointments.

Take Action NOW by sending an important message to President Trump and Secretary Price!

May Give Life Challenge: Sign a Special Mother’s Day Card

Our Give Life Challenge for the month of May is to encourage moms raising kids with special needs!  Would you sign a heartening card for moms of children with Down Syndrome?

MarchForLife_April2015_Memes19-3As you may know, we have been sharing the message that “Every Life is a Gift” for the 2015 March for Life, and we have focused on the special babies that are diagnosed with a fetal abnormality, such as Down Syndrome. Tragically, children with a poor prenatal diagnosis are aborted at a rate of approximately 85%. Thankfully, many moms and families resist pressure from doctors or society to abort, and give birth to precious children that, although they may face medical or development challenges, are a gift to this world.

Your signature on our inspiring Mother’s Day card will carry on the 2015 March for Life theme that “every life is a gift.” It will be an encouragement to countless moms of children with Down Syndrome and work to erase the perception that moms who deliver babies with Down Syndrome should be told “I’m sorry” rather than “congratulations!”

April Give Life Challenge: Post-Abortion Healing

Our Give Life Challenge for April is to share information about post-abortion healing.

MarchForLife_April2015_Memes3As we begin the month of April, here in the Nation’s Capital we welcome spring! Just a few weeks ago, the Potomac River and Tidal Basin were frozen over, and now the famed cherry blossoms are beginning to bud and will be in full bloom in days!

Nature’s rebirth is particularly on our mind as we prepare for Easter this Sunday. Themes of resurrection and redemption are essential to the pro-life movement. While abortion tragically takes the life of an unborn child, it also harms the mother and others. Many women and men who have been involved in abortion are in desperate need of hope and healing.

MarchForLife_April2015_Memes2Thank you for participating in our April Give Life Challenge.  As we reflect on the Easter season, these seemingly small efforts could truly “give life” to someone desperately in need of solace.

Abortion Coverage Subsidies

Download this document as a PDF.

Are You Subsidizing Abortion Coverage?

For background information on abortion coverage in Obamacare state exchanges, click here.

ACTION PLAN

Exchange Research Guidelines

Below are the 28 states and localities that include abortion in the state exchanges (other states have voted to opt-out of such coverage):

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Consumers shopping for plans on the ACA exchanges want to know if their plan covers abortion. This is very hard to decipher. Many plans do not specify on the website whether their benefits package include abortion.

To find out for yourself you can visit Healthcare.gov to find the plans or link to the state-run exchange. Explore the summary of benefits coverage for each plan offered in the state. Use the search tool to scan for the words “abortion” and “termination,” and also scroll through to the section at the end of each benefit list to review the list of additional excluded and covered benefits.  Keep a record of whether abortion is a covered benefit, excluded or not mentioned at all. Ideally, print the relevant page of each plan for your records.

Once you have identified all the carriers operating on the exchange, and the status of the plans’ abortion coverage, calls should be made to the carrier companies. Ideally, a local resident should make the calls to inquire as to whether the plan includes abortion coverage.

A suggested script is below. The caller should take very careful notes of what the carrier says, and if possible, get the name of the person they are talking with.

General script:

Hi, I’m shopping for a healthcare plan and I was looking at your plan options on healthcare.gov. Can you tell me which of them include coverage for abortion? OR Can you tell me which of your plans don’t include abortion coverage?

Typically you will get a general answer – “its’ covered,” and you will want to try to dig a little more, “is it always covered, are there any exceptions?”

If they ask why you want to know, you should say whatever you are comfortable with. One suggestion is “I don’t want to be paying into the abortion pool.”

Try to write down whatever they tell you, as carefully as possible. Please try to get a name of who you speak with. Record your notes, including the time of the phone call.

When the project is complete please send a complete record back to us at March for Life at info@marchforlife.org identifying

1)      How many plans are offered in the state?

2)      Which and how many of those plans identify their abortion coverage policy online.

3)      How many plans actually cover abortion (based on what you learned by calling).

4)      What you learned from the carriers by making phone calls.

Here is an example of a summary of research for New Jersey:

Between January 22 and 23, 2014, we reviewed all the healthcare plans available for individuals shopping on the New Jersey Exchange. We examined the summary of benefits for each plan as made available on the internet. None of the 31 plans offered made any mention of abortion coverage, either as an excluded or covered benefit.

On January 23 we called the three insurance companies administering the plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Amerihealth and Health Republic Insurance of New Jersey and asked if abortion coverage was included. Blue Cross Blue Shield and Health Republic Insurance of NJ both said abortion was a covered benefit, so at the very least, 14 of the 31 plans cover elective abortion. The third carrier, Amerihealth, was a little squishier, saying abortion could be covered if it was pre-approved.
