You Are Not Alone

You Are Not Alone

While Mother’s Day typically evokes thoughts of gratitude and joy, for some Mother’s Day isn’t about flowers and happy memories. Specifically, we remember post-abortive women who carry grief with them from a choice to terminate a pregnancy.

Georgette Forney, founder of Silent No More, an organization dedicated to helping women heal from such a choice, points out in the organization’s “Shockwaves of Abortion” campaign, that Mother’s Day can be a painful reminder to women who mourn the lost opportunity to be a mom to their child or children because of abortion.

Please know that if you, or someone you know, is post-abortive, hope and healing is possible. You are not alone, and the pain you are going through is normal.

As Mary McClusky, Assistant Director, Project Rachel Ministry Development, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, explains, there are people who can help you along in a healing journey. Thankfully, there are many resources and organizations available to help women (and men!) who are suffering from post-abortion grief.

Don’t let this Mother’s Day pass without taking the opportunity to find help for yourself or a loved one. There are good people with wide open arms who can walk with you through your healing journey.

Jeanne Mancini Op-Ed on The Stream

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini recently penned an op-ed for The Stream, entitled, “Congressional Hearing Reveals Evidence Planned Parenthood Profited Selling Baby Body Parts.”

The hearing also made clear that the Center for Medical Progress videos are only the tip of the iceberg. Exhibits from the hearing also revealed that by 2015, the private company procuring and selling baby parts was working with nearly 100 abortion clinics. Considering the approximately 725 abortion clinics nationwide, that means that almost 1 in every 7 was selling baby body parts to this company. Documents during the hearing also showed that this same company was poised to gain access to over half of the abortion market just before the videos came out. Similar to the first point, this is despite the fact that Planned Parenthood has also repeatedly claimed that this activity is not widespread.

AmeriCorps’ Abortion Escorts Broke Federal Rules

Washington, D.C – This week’s OIG report reveals two disturbing and illegal activities related to abortion. When Obamacare passed in 2010 pro-life groups raised the alarm about numerous ways the law funded abortions, including the possibility that Community Health Care Centers would provide abortions.  At the time President Obama promised that abortion would not be covered in the law and to that point signed an Executive Order which Pro-life groups (and pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood) argued was not binding and therefore meaningless. Also at the time the National Association of Community Health Centers stated that the Community Health Centers did not provide abortions and had no plans to do so.

To the contrary the OIG watchdog report released this week reveals that 1) CHCs have been performing abortions and 2) paid volunteers working with AmeriCorps, a taxpayer funded service organization, illegally escorted pregnant women to receive abortions.

Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life Education and Defense Fund responded, “In 2010 the pro-life movement fought Obamacare because it was the biggest expansion of abortion since Roe vs Wade.  The recent OIG report reveals yet two other disturbing examples where the healthcare law funds abortion. Congress must use its oversight role to address the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) grants until it is proven that these cases of involvement in abortion are limited to what is documented in the report. We also call upon Congress to initiate an investigation into all grantees and sub-grantees of AmeriCorps programs to ensure no other violations exist.”

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world.  The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion.

Tom McClusky, Vice President of March for Life Action is available for commentary. For more information, please contact Ryan Hughes at RHughes@SBPublicAffairs.com or (703) 739-5920.

Donald Trump “Absolutely” Wants to Change GOP Platform to Promote Abortion in Cases of Rape

Washington, D.C. – In an interview with the Today show, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he “absolutely” wants to change the Republican party’s current pro-life platform to promote abortions in cases of rape or incest.

The GOP platform’s position on “The Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life” reads, “Faithful to the ‘self-evident’ truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.”

“Thanks to the good work of people like Phyllis Schlafly, the Republican Platform has always been solidly pro-life even when Republican candidates have not been,” said Tom McClusky, March for Life Action, who has worked behind the scenes on the pro-life platform at conventions. “The Platform sets the standard that all candidates need to work from, and the suggestion that the platform should weaken its position on the pro-life issue would set back years of hard work in the pro-life movement.”

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v.
