Abortion Proponents Should Care About Safety If They Are Truly Pro-Woman

Washington, D.C. — On Wednesday, March 2, the Supreme Court will decide on Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt. This case centers on Texas’s restrictions on abortion clinics, which were upheld by the Fifth Circuit court. The March for Life Education and Defense fund is urging the court to uphold the Fifth Circuit Court’s decision so that abortion clinics are upheld to the same standards as other surgical outpatient clinics.

“For years, beauty parlors, public pools and veterinary clinics were held to higher levels of regulatory oversight than abortion clinics in most states. It is only after women suffered terrible health consequences, including death, at the hands of poorly-regulated abortion clinics that states like Texas have since passed laws raising the health standards of these facilities.”

“As the head of a pro-life organization formed after Roe v Wade to oppose abortion and build a culture of life, my sincere hope is that no woman will step foot in an abortion facility in her own best interest as well as that of her baby. But until that day, can’t we agree that abortion facilities should be held to the same safety standards as other surgical outpatient centers? Abortion proponents should care about safety, if they are truly pro-woman.”

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world.  The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion.

Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education & Defense Fund is available for commentary. For more information, please contact Ryan Hughes at RHughes@SBPublicAffairs.com or (703) 739-5920.

Doritos, Debates, And Defining Extreme

Jeanne Mancini writes in the Daily Caller:

No doubt Americans love Doritos, and babies. So naturally the Super Bowl ad  depicting the addictive attraction of Doritos even to a baby shown on an ultrasound still in the mother’s womb, was a clever and the third most popular commercial of the night according to USA Today.

Annual Event on National Mall Moving Ahead as Scheduled

Washington, D.C. —  The March for Life Education & Defense Fund announced today that the 43rd annual event is scheduled as planned. The March has gone on through rain, snow, sub-freezing temperatures and more as the solemn day of the anniversary of Roe vs.Wade and will do so again tomorrow. While weather reports indicate a major snow storm barring down on the nation’s capital late in the afternoon, the event starting on the national mall at noon Friday will not be cancelled.

“Tens of thousands of people from across the country have traveled to Washington for this massive event and we ask participants to use their best judgement as to whether they should come in person or watch on TV,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life.  “We are very concerned for people’s safety and want everyone to be cautious.  However, the pro-life community is also concerned for the safety and well-being of the innocent, unborn in the womb. This movement to end abortion in this country is bigger than us and it is bigger than a weather event. This is a cause that is worth our best efforts and dedication, despite difficult circumstances.”

This year’s March for Life Rally on Capitol Hill will begin at 12:00 noon on January 22 near the Washington Monumen and will feature a diverse line-up of speakers including leaders in business, government, athletics and the arts. Featured speakers including businesswoman Carly Fiorina, former Baltimore Raven and Super Bowl Champion Matt Birk, and US Senator Joni Ernst, among many others.

The March Rally at noon at 14th and Constitution Avenue, and through social media using the hashtag #WhyWeMarch.” EWTN Global Catholic Television Network will be broadcasting live and providing full coverage of the March, which can be streamed online for any who cannot attend.
