Jeanne Mancini, March for Life President and Pro-Life leaders hold Press Conference on Supreme Court Steps |
|||
| Washington, D.C. — By a vote of 5-3 the U.S. Supreme Court has struck down the Texas law requiring abortion clinic regulations in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt.
“Being pro-life means wanting what is best for women and babies. The Texas law was in the best interest of women’s health. Because of the decision today, beauty parlors, veterinarian clinics and public pools will be held to higher sanitary and health standards than abortion clinics.” Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life. “As President of an organization that works for a culture where abortion is unthinkable, my hope is that no woman would choose abortion. But can’t we agree to care about safety and health standards? For years abortion advocates have equated greater access to abortion with improving women’s health. In doing so they have advocated for substandard health regulations. This is not pro-woman. Women and babies are the real losers of today’s decision.” The press conference will be held on the steps of the Supreme Court Today, at (time). Speakers at the event will include: Who: Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life Education and Defense Fund What: Pro-Life Press Conference Where: US Supreme Court Plaza When: Monday, June 24th (time) The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion. California Churches are now forced to Cover Abortions
Washington, D.C. – In a shocking move, the Obama Administration has upheld California’s mandate that all churches must cover abortion services. The ruling has sparked a major backlash from religious leaders across the nation who consider this an unbelievable violation of their conscience rights. In 2014, the California Department of Managed Health Care ordered almost all health coverage statewide – even coverage provided by churches and other religious organizations – to include abortion coverage. This mandate violates a federal law known as the Weldon amendment; however, the only avenue to enforce Weldon is through the Department of Health and Human Services. This week the HHS announced it was ruling against the all three complaints made against the order. “It’s hard to comprehend how our country’s conscience and religious freedom protections have deteriorated in such a short period of time under the Obama Administration,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education & Defense Fund. “HHS’s role is to follow laws, not reinterpret them according to their blatant advocacy for abortion.” The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. Good Intentions Sometimes Make Bad Policy |
|
| Washington, D.C – Last week Senate Armed Services Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.), at the request of Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), included language in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that is of great concern to pro-life activists. The NDAA is a United States federal law specifying the budget and expenditures of the United States Department of Defense. Language added last week will create a single entity to control $37.5 million for international sex trafficking grants with minimal oversight and no inherent pro-life protections. Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund had the following comment:
“Human trafficking of any kind – forced labor, sex trafficking, and other forms of modern day slavery are an affront to the inherent dignity of the human person. Many wonderful religious and non-profit groups are dedicated to fighting the scourge of human trafficking and to restoring hope and healing to its victims. We are grateful for this brave and critical work. However, included in the NDAA is funding language for an anti-trafficking program that lacks basic pro-life protections. Recipients of this funding will likely be big abortion businesses rather than groups holistically dedicated to fighting the scourge of trafficking and defending the inherent dignity of the human person. I have no doubt Senators McCain and Corker truly want to end the atrocities connected to trafficking. But good intentions do not always translate to good policy. Legislative efforts to fight trafficking must include oversight and pro-life protections if they are to be regarded as serious, and potentially effective, efforts to combat human trafficking.” The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. Jeanne Mancini Op-Ed on The Stream
March for Life President Jeanne Mancini recently penned an op-ed for The Stream, entitled, “Congressional Hearing Reveals Evidence Planned Parenthood Profited Selling Baby Body Parts.”
The hearing also made clear that the Center for Medical Progress videos are only the tip of the iceberg. Exhibits from the hearing also revealed that by 2015, the private company procuring and selling baby parts was working with nearly 100 abortion clinics. Considering the approximately 725 abortion clinics nationwide, that means that almost 1 in every 7 was selling baby body parts to this company. Documents during the hearing also showed that this same company was poised to gain access to over half of the abortion market just before the videos came out. Similar to the first point, this is despite the fact that Planned Parenthood has also repeatedly claimed that this activity is not widespread.
