Tom McClusky Op-Ed in The Hill

Senators, use your cancelled summer recess to pass pro-life bills

“The longer Congress stays out of session this year the more likely harmful pro-abortion policies will remain in effect. For this reason, March for Life Action supports Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) embrace of Senator Purdue’s (R-Ga.) call to cancel summer recess.“

March for Life Statement on Ireland’s 8th Amendment Repeal

“We are deeply saddened to learn that many Irish people voted against love and life by repealing the 8th amendment. Americans know from experience that there will be many grave and irreversible consequences to this decision, including the loss of precious lives. A study released this week shows that legalizing abortion greatly increases the number of children whose lives are terminated in the womb. Though they are the first, unborn children are not the only victims; abortion harms mothers too. Life is the empowering decision. We grieve for the great loss this beautiful country will endure and we pray that they find a way to reverse this unfortunate decision.”

March for Life Statement on Title X Regulations

“For decades the March for Life and others have been working to reinstate Title X regulations that clearly separate abortion from healthcare  – abortion is not healthcare. The March for Life applauds HHS Secretary Azar and the Trump administration for protecting taxpayers from funding abortion through Title X. For ten years strong Marist polling indicates that the majority of Americans do not want their taxpayer dollars subsidizing abortion companies. Meanwhile, not one dime of Title X funds will be cut and the low income women, who those funds are intended to help, will receive authentic health care at federally qualified health centers (FQHC) which outnumber abortion centers 20:1. At FQHC, women benefit from better regulatory oversight, a wider range of services, and more options. We are encouraged by this step in the right direction and look forward to making continued progress in restoring a culture of life here in the United States.”

March for Life Statement on Title X Rule

“March for Life applauds HHS Secretary Azar and President Trump’s entire administration for reinstating Title X regulations that disentangle taxpayer dollars from funding abortion. This money will now be redirected to comprehensive family health and planning centers that don’t perform abortions and understand that abortion is not healthcare. The pro-life grassroots will be pleased to see President Trump deliver on yet another pro-life promise, and we look forward to continued progress in restoring a culture of life here in the United States.”

Tom McClusky Op-Ed in The Hill

Trump, taxpayers want Title X funding protected from abortion clinics

In 1970, Congress enacted Title X of the Public Health Service Act that provides federal tax dollars for family planning services. The Act states that grants and contracts under Title X must “be in accordance with such regulations as the Secretary (of Health and Human Services) may promulgate.”
