Donald Trump “Absolutely” Wants to Change GOP Platform to Promote Abortion in Cases of Rape |

| Washington, D.C. – In an interview with the Today show, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he “absolutely” wants to change the Republican party’s current pro-life platform to promote abortions in cases of rape or incest.
The GOP platform’s position on “The Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life” reads, “Faithful to the ‘self-evident’ truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.” “Thanks to the good work of people like Phyllis Schlafly, the Republican Platform has always been solidly pro-life even when Republican candidates have not been,” said Tom McClusky, March for Life Action, who has worked behind the scenes on the pro-life platform at conventions. “The Platform sets the standard that all candidates need to work from, and the suggestion that the platform should weaken its position on the pro-life issue would set back years of hard work in the pro-life movement.” The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion. |
