The March for Life began in Washington, D.C. as a small demonstration in direct response to the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Taking place every year since 1974, the March for Life rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. This peaceful gathering of hundreds of thousands is a powerful witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand.
Where and when is the March for Life?
The National March for Life will take place on Friday, January 22, 2027 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The 2027 March for Life route will be made public closer to the date of the event. Check back for updates!
Why is the March for Life always held in January?
The March for Life was originally founded by Nellie Gray and other pro-life advocates in opposition to the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case decision, which legalized abortion in all 50 states. The original March for Life was held on the 1-year anniversary of Roe v. Wade, January 22, 1974. Now, we hold the March, which brings together the pro-life movement across the nation, on the Friday closest to this somber anniversary to stand up for the 63 million lives lost since Roe.

It’s never too early to start planning! Whether coming for the day of the March for Life or for the whole week, it’s important to schedule the events you’ll be attending, book your lodging and transportation, and know the route of the March for Life.
