| Washington, D.C. — The Senate voted on Thursday night to repeal large portions of Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood, a major victory for pro-life Americans. The Reconciliation bill will next head to the House where it is expected to pass, and then to the desk of President Obama. March for Life Action is now urging the Senate to protect pro-life provisions on the end-of-year omnibus spending bill.
“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and pro-life Senators deserve high praise for their successful efforts last night to stop the forced partnership of American taxpayers and abortion giant Planned Parenthood,” said Tom McClusky, President of March for Life Action. “Now Congress must pivot to the Omnibus where they need to protect current pro-life provisions as well as the necessary new ones. This should include protections for pro-life organizations, especially Christian churches, from being forced to pay for abortion.”
The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion. |
