Legislators to Speak at 41st March for Life

Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Democratic Representative Dan Lipinski among the Pro-Life Leaders Speaking at the Rally on January 22

Washington, DC – In a rare feat for the nation’s capital, Representatives from both sides of the aisle will come together on January 22nd for the 41st annual March for Life in Washington, DC. Among the speakers are Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL).

“Support for life pervades American society, regardless of party affiliation,” says March for Life President Jeanne Monahan. “Having supporters from across the political spectrum is great for the March, and really goes to show how much Americans care about protecting life.”

Also speaking will be Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), and Washington State Democratic Legislator Roger Freeman. “These representatives have all courageously defended life during their time in office, and we could not be more thankful for that,” continues Monahan. “We are proud that they are able to join us to speak on the human rights issue of our time.”

The theme of this year’s event is adoption. “Adoption is a heroic decision for pregnant mothers who find themselves in a difficult situation,” says Monahan. “We want to eliminate the stigma of adoption and encourage women to pursue this noble option.” This year will mark the 41st March for Life in Washington, D.C. Hundreds of thousands of people participated in the March in 2013, and crowds are expected to keep growing as young people from around the country participate. The annual event begins with the rally on the National Mall at noon, followed by the March to the Supreme Court.

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world.  The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since 1973 is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand.
