The Power of One: The Importance of Preserving the Hyde Amendment

A Capitol Hill Briefing Sponsored by the March for Life and hosted by Representative Diane Black (R-TN)

Rayburn Banquet Hall, B-338
Lunch will be served.

September 30, 2016, marks the 40 year anniversary of the passage of the Hyde Amendment, the annual appropriations rider that prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion. Not only does the long-standing policy have bipartisan support, it is supported by a large majority of Americans. However, emboldened pro-abortion advocates and politicians have increased their rhetoric in calling for an end to the Hyde Amendment.

Join the March for Life Education and Defense Fund for lunch and an important announcement about the 2017 March for Life. The briefing will examine the history behind the Hyde Amendment, and its heroic author, Henry Hyde, as well as the policy research and messaging tips.

Speakers:

  • Jeanne Mancini, March for Life President
  • Genevieve Plaster, Charlotte Lozier Institute
  • Dr. Michael New, Visiting Associate Professor, Ave Maria University
